What to Do in Galicia in 7 Day

7 days in Galicia: nature, Atlantic culture, and unforgettable experiences

Galicia is one of the most magical and diverse regions in Spain. Its green landscapes, its coast full of cliffs and paradisiacal beaches, its historic cities, its unique gastronomy, and its profound cultural tradition make this region a perfect destination for a full week.

In 7 days, it is possible to discover its essence: sea, mountains, heritage, fishing villages, and, of course, the imprint of the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James).

➤ Day 1: A Coruña, vibrant Atlantic city

Start the route in A Coruña, a city open to the sea with history, culture, and plenty of life.

  • Tower of Hercules (Torre de Hércules): Roman lighthouse and World Heritage Site.
  • Promenade (Paseo Marítimo): one of the longest in Europe, perfect for walking along the ocean.
  • Old City (Ciudad Vieja): charming streets and the Plaza de María Pita.
  • Urban beaches like Riazor and Orzán.

Don't leave without trying its fresh seafood and fish.

➤ Day 2: Costa da Morte, wild nature

The Costa da Morte (Coast of Death) offers some of the most epic landscapes in Galicia: cliffs, immense beaches, and fishing villages.

  • Cape Fisterra (Cabo Fisterra), considered the “end of the world” in antiquity.
  • Ézaro and its unique waterfall that drops directly into the sea.
  • Camariñas and the Cabo Vilán Lighthouse.

It is a day full of pure Atlantic nature.

➤ Day 3: Santiago de Compostela, destination of the Camino

Santiago de Compostela is one of the most special cities in Europe. Spiritual, cultural, and architecturally unique, it cannot be missed on a Galician route.

  • Santiago Cathedral (Catedral de Santiago) and visit to the Portico da Gloria.
  • Plaza del Obradoiro, one of the most moving squares in the world.
  • Historic centre full of squares, arcades, and life.
  • Mercado de Abastos (Market), an essential gastronomic centre.

A day in Santiago leaves a lasting impression on any visitor.

➤ Day 4: Pontevedra and the Rías Baixas

Pontevedra is a friendly, pedestrian city with a beautiful old town. It is also the gateway to the Rías Baixas (Lower Estuaries).

  • Plaza de la Herrería and historic centre.
  • Basílica de Santa María, a Gothic jewel.
  • Combarro: a fishing village with *hórreos* (traditional granaries) by the sea.
  • Sanxenxo and O Grove: beaches and seafood.

It is also a perfect place to sample Albariño wine and produce from the estuary.

➤ Day 5: Vigo and the Cíes Islands

Vigo is a modern city with one of the most important Atlantic ports. It is also the gateway to the natural paradise of the Cíes Islands.

  • Monte do Castro with panoramic views of the estuary.
  • Casco Vello (Old Quarter) and its maritime atmosphere.
  • Cíes and Rodas beach, considered by many to be the best beach in the world.

A perfect combination of city, sea, and protected nature.

➤ Day 6: Lugo and the Ribeira Sacra

Lugo is a historic city known for its Roman wall, the only one in the world that is completely preserved.

  • Lugo Wall (Muralla de Lugo), a World Heritage Site.
  • Cathedral and old town.

Afterwards, head to the Ribeira Sacra, one of Galicia's natural jewels.

  • Sil Canyons (Cañones del Sil): spectacular viewpoints.
  • Unique Romanesque monasteries.
  • Terraced vineyards and Mencía or Godello wines.

An area that mixes landscape, spirituality, and wine tourism.

➤ Day 7: Ourense and its thermal springs

Ourense is the city of thermal waters. It has a well-maintained historic centre and a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for closing the trip.

  • Ponte Vella (Old Bridge) over the Miño river.
  • Ourense Cathedral (Catedral de Ourense) and its Portico of Paradise.
  • Thermal springs (Termas) of Outariz or A Chavasqueira for a relaxing bath.

Ourense gastronomy—octopus, wines, and empanadas (savoury pies)—is the perfect finishing touch to the week.

➤ Galicia in 7 days: a complete and surprising trip

In one week, Galicia offers everything: wild sea and paradisiacal beaches, monumental cities, natural parks, unforgettable gastronomy, wine, cultural routes, and authentic fishing villages.

A destination that captivates with its diversity, its magic, and its welcoming nature.

Galicia is green, it is ocean, it is tradition, and it is flavour. Seven days are enough to discover it... but they always invite you to return.
