Weekend in Seville

A weekend to fall in love with Seville

Seville is a bright, warm city full of history. In just two days, you can enjoy its most iconic monuments, its cheerful atmosphere and flavours that reflect the essence of the south. Walking through its streets is a journey through Mudejar architecture, orange-blossom-scented courtyards, lively squares and neighbourhoods steeped in tradition.

This guide offers a balanced itinerary to make the most of a weekend in the Andalusian capital.

➤ Day 1: The monumental heart of Seville

The first day is dedicated to the city's great symbols, all located in the historic centre and easily explored on foot.

  • Seville Cathedral: the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. Its interior, organ and Columbus’ tomb are must-sees.
  • Climb the Giralda: one of Spain’s most iconic viewpoints, with gentle ramps and unforgettable views.
  • Royal Alcázar: a unique palace blending Islamic, Mudejar and Renaissance styles. Its gardens are perfect for switching off.
  • Santa Cruz neighbourhood: narrow streets, flower-filled courtyards, hidden squares and a romantic atmosphere. Ideal for wandering without rushing.

In the afternoon, a stroll to the Plaza de España and María Luisa Park lets you enjoy one of Seville’s most photogenic spots, full of life and regionalist architecture.

➤ Day 2: Triana, art, gastronomy and viewpoints

The second day is designed to discover the local atmosphere and other cultural corners that make Seville such a special city.

  • Triana neighbourhood: crossing the Isabel II bridge means entering a district with its own soul—ceramics, flamenco and traditional tapas.
  • Triana Market: ideal for breakfast, a quick bite or tasting fresh products.
  • Las Setas – Metropol Parasol: a modern structure with one of the best urban viewpoints in the city.
  • Archive of the Indies: a World Heritage Site and a perfect visit for history lovers.
  • Torre del Oro: on the banks of the Guadalquivir, an iconic defensive tower from medieval and Muslim Seville.

If the weather allows, a boat ride on the Guadalquivir River is a different way to admire the city and unwind at the end of the trip.

➤ Sevillian gastronomy: essential on your weekend

Seville is synonymous with great food. Tapas, stews, fried dishes and traditional flavours are part of its culinary identity.

  • Spinach with chickpeas, a classic of Sevillian cuisine.
  • Salmorejo or gazpacho in the warmer months.
  • Fried fish in Triana or El Arenal.
  • Montaditos of “pringá” or pork loin.
  • Churros with chocolate for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

The best areas for tapas are Triana, El Arenal, Santa Cruz and Alameda de Hércules.

➤ Extra plans if you have time left

  • Flamenco show in a traditional tablao.
  • Walk along the Guadalquivir riverbank to the Los Remedios neighbourhood.
  • Seville Museum of Fine Arts, one of the most important in Spain.
  • Former Cartuja Monastery (Andalusian Centre for Contemporary Art).

A weekend in Seville is the perfect blend of monuments, gastronomy, charming walks and a light that accompanies you on every corner. A short getaway that leaves you wanting to return.
