One Day in Seville

One day in Seville: art, colour, and life in every corner

Seville is a city that dazzles from the first step: warm light, narrow streets that hold centuries of history, iconic monuments that look straight out of a painting, and a joyful atmosphere that can be felt in squares, terraces, and traditional neighbourhoods. Although Seville deserves several days, it is possible to enjoy its essence in one well-used day.

This itinerary brings together the best to savour the culture, architecture, and Sevillian charm in just 24 hours.

➤ Morning: monumental Seville

1. Seville Cathedral and Giralda

Begin the day by visiting one of the great symbols of the city: the Seville Cathedral (Catedral de Sevilla), the largest Gothic temple in the world and a masterpiece declared a World Heritage Site.

  • Tomb of Christopher Columbus.
  • Main Altarpiece (Retablo Mayor), one of the most impressive in European art.
  • Climb the Giralda, with spectacular panoramic views of the entire city.

2. Royal Alcázar of Seville

A few steps away is the Royal Alcázar (Real Alcázar), a palace complex that combines Islamic, Mudejar, Gothic, and Renaissance art. Its courtyards, its tile craftsmanship, and its lush gardens transport visitors to another era.

Stroll through:

  • Patio de las Doncellas (Court of the Maidens).
  • Salón de los Embajadores (Hall of the Ambassadors).
  • Alcázar Gardens, ideal for disconnecting from the bustle.

➤ Midday: the charm of the Santa Cruz Quarter

After a monumental morning, the Santa Cruz Quarter (Barrio de Santa Cruz) invites you to get lost among white alleyways, patios full of flowers, and squares shaded by orange trees. It is the old Jewish quarter and one of Seville's most soulful corners.

It is also the best time to enjoy a traditional Andalusian lunch:

  • Salmorejo or gazpacho (cold soups).
  • **Pescaito frito** (fried fish).
  • **Tortilla de camarones** (prawn fritters).
  • **Jamón ibérico** (Iberian ham) or local cured meats.

Both classic bars and modern terraces offer gastronomy that fuses tradition and local produce.

➤ Afternoon: strolls to the rhythm of the Guadalquivir

3. Plaza de España and María Luisa Park

In the afternoon, head towards the Plaza de España, one of the most spectacular monuments in Spain. Built for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, its tile semi-circle, its navigable canal, and its bridges make it a magical place for strolling and photographing.

Next, immerse yourself in the coolness of the María Luisa Park (Parque de María Luisa), an oasis full of gardens, ponds, ceramic benches, and perfect shade for resting.

4. Stroll along the Guadalquivir and Torre del Oro

Continue towards the bank of the Guadalquivir river, one of the most pleasant promenades in Seville. Next to the river is the famous Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold), an old Almohad defensive tower that today houses a small maritime museum.

Watching the sunset from this spot is one of the most special moments of the day.

➤ Evening: Triana and the art of flamenco

To close the day, cross the Triana Bridge (Puente de Triana) towards one of Seville's most charismatic neighbourhoods: Triana. With a seafaring and gypsy soul, its streets are full of taverns, flamenco *peñas* (clubs), and bars where tradition is breathed.

  • Dinner in a tavern with river views.
  • Enjoy a flamenco show in a traditional *peña*.
  • Stroll along the illuminated Calle Betis.

Triana is the perfect place to feel the authentic character of Seville as night falls.

➤ Seville in a day: a city that stays in your memory

Although a single day is not enough to encompass all its wonders, this route allows you to enjoy the most essential aspects of Seville: its heritage, its charm, its light, and its unique rhythm. Every visit leaves you wanting to return... because Seville has something special that captures you.

Seville is art, history, and life. One day is enough to fall in love, but a lifetime would be too little to know it completely.
